2024’s Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration is more than just a chance to witness a reenactment of one of the most significant battles in American history. It is a day to celebrate our community, remember our past, and look toward the future with hope. For the first time, the KAT Foundation joined in the activities with its inaugural fundraising initiative, marking a monumental step in our mission to promote mental health awareness and prevent suicide in the North Country.
The Battle of Plattsburgh: A Historic Event
The Battle of Plattsburgh, fought in 1814, was a pivotal moment in the War of 1812. The American victory secured the northern border of the United States, making it a defining achievement in early American history. The 2024 annual Commemoration brought together reenactors, historians, and community members to honor the legacy of the brave men and women who fought to protect our young nation.
This year’s event was a spectacular display of history, complete with a reenactment of the battle, military demonstrations, and exhibits that highlight the significance of the Battle of Plattsburgh. The City event provided an opportunity for locals and visitors alike to experience a 19th century “encampment”, the battle reenactment, the children’s old-time village, local bands and music and the parade, and many other activities as part of stepping back in time and interact with the story of our region’s role in shaping the nation.
The Keep Another Tomorrow Foundation’s First Fundraising Event
As we celebrate our community’s past, we also turn our focus to the future. The Keep Another Tomorrow Foundation, established in 2024, is dedicated to preventing suicide, raising mental health awareness, and providing support to those in need. Our first fundraising event, held during the Battle of Plattsburgh Public Event, is a step forward in achieving our mission to create a world with zero suicides.
This community initiative allowed the KAT Foundation to start its community outreach and raise funds for our programs. The KAT Foundation is committed to building a network of resources, fostering open conversations about mental health, and providing the necessary support systems for those struggling with mental health challenges so that suicide is no longer the choice made by our loved ones.

We invite you to join the Foundation’s efforts to support mental health and foster suicide prevention. Whether you attended this year’s Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration or want to participate in our fundraising efforts, your involvement will make a difference in our community.
The Keep Another Tomorrow Foundation participated in the parade, had opportunities to share about our mission and a chance to have people donate with volunteers on site who are passionate about making a positive impact.
A Day of Hope, Remembrance, and Action
The annual Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration is a celebration of history, and more importantly a chance to come together and make a real difference in our community’s future. The Keep Another Tomorrow Foundation’s first foray into the community started us on the path of creating support, awareness, and hope. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s event and joining forces to Keep Another Tomorrow for all of us. Together, we can make a lasting impact and ensure that no one faces mental health struggles alone.
